Preserving Heritage • Building Community • Inspiring the Next Generation
About Us
The South Jersey Tamil Association (SJTA) is a 501(c) certified, non-profit, charitable, socio-cultural, and secular organization, founded in 2004. Our mission is to preserve and promote the richness of Tamil language, arts, culture, literature, and Indian traditions within the South Jersey region, especially among the younger generation.
Tamil is one of the oldest living classical languages, with a continuous literary and cultural history of over 2,500 years. Today, the language is spoken by over 80–90 million people worldwide, forming vibrant communities across India, Sri Lanka, Southeast Asia, and a strong global diaspora—including right here in the United States.
SJTA provides a welcoming platform for Tamil families and enthusiasts to stay connected to their cultural roots, learn together, and celebrate as a community.
